WORDS is very much alive and kicking
As we come out of the most recent lockdown, the good news is that WORDS is very much alive and kicking, thanks to the success of our events in 2019 and to the very successful Ann Cleeves event at Artrix in February of last year.
At a recent Committee Meeting of WORDS, we made the decision that the increasing rollout of the anti Covid 19 vaccines, and the ongoing consequent reduction in the number of cases of the disease, meant that we could start making plans for the introduction of live events (as opposed to “ Zoom " Events) in the autumn of this year.
Thus we have pencilled in our first event for lunchtime on Wednesday, October 6th in The New Guesten Hall at Avoncroft Museum. The speaker will be Mary Cutler, who for forty years years was a writer for “ The Archers “ and in the early ’90’s was the Literature Development Worker in Worcestershire.
For now, the exact format of the event is “ flexible “ and will depend on the government regulations at the time, but at this stage we envisage having a buffet lunch event, with admission by tickets bought in advance.
All being well, our programme in 2022 will include talks - “ From Script to Screen “ - by Peter Lloyd, the Series Producer of “ Doctors “, the long running lunchtime drama on BBC 1, and “ This Sporting Life “ by Pat Murphy, the prolific author and BBC broadcaster on sporting matters, both of which we had to cancel in 2020. We are working currently on future events and welcome any suggestions from you for any speakers that you would like us to try to bring to Bromsgrove.
Please keep an eye on the website, as we will start to update it over the next few months.
